WeldFit Achieves CSA Z662 Qualification and ABSA Registration for

In-Service Welding in Canada

Houston, Texas [August 7, 2026]

Qualification expands WeldFit’s ability to provide code-compliant in-service welding solutions for pipeline operators across Canada.

WeldFit is pleased to announce the successful qualification of its in-service welding (ISW) procedures to CSA Z662 requirements and registration with the Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA), further strengthening the company’s capabilities to support pipeline operators throughout Alberta and across Canada.

The newly registered procedures qualify WeldFit to perform in-service sleeve and split tee installations on operating pipelines using low-hydrogen shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) procedures. These qualifications enable operators to safely execute repairs and modifications while maintaining pipeline operations, reducing downtime and supporting long-term asset integrity.

The qualification program was completed in accordance with CSA Z662 methodology and includes qualification for sweet service pipelines up to 65 ksi Specified Minimum Yield Strength (SMYS), utilizing a Carbon Equivalent (CE) of 0.45. Procedures were successfully qualified at a 17-second cooling rate, demonstrating their suitability for demanding ISW conditions. The registered procedures support the installation of repair sleeves, reinforcement sleeves, split tees, and hot tap fittings across a range of pipeline maintenance and intervention applications.

“This achievement reflects our continued investment in supporting Canadian pipeline operators with safe, reliable, and technically proven solutions,” said Frede Maxwell, WeldFit’s In-Service Welding Manager. “By achieving CSA Z662 qualification and ABSA registration, we’re expanding our ability to deliver in-service welding services that meet Canada’s rigorous industry standards while helping customers maintain pipeline integrity without interrupting operations.”

This milestone further reinforces WeldFit’s commitment to the Canadian energy industry and complements the company’s growing presence in the region, including its Edmonton, Alberta service center. Together, these investments position WeldFit to provide Canadian operators with locally supported pipeline intervention services, advanced engineering expertise, and proven technologies that improve safety, reliability, and operational performance.
