WeldFit Energy Group Engineers Supporting Future Engineers
Hands-on learning is an educational method that directly involves the learner by actively encouraging them to do something in order to learn it. This Spring, WeldFit Energy Group was pleased to sponsor the senior design project for a group of mechanical engineering students from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Serving as the culmination of their journey as engineering students, the senior design project affords students the opportunity to utilize the knowledge that they?ve gained through the classroom and apply it to solve a real-world problem.
Mechanical Engineering & The Pig Signaler Project
Over the course of the semester-long project, WeldFit Energy Group provided in-house engineering, manufacturing and testing support to assist the group in achieving their goal of improving the design and function of a pig signaler. Pig signalers get their namesake from the purpose they serve, which is to alert pipeline operators that a pipeline pig has passed a certain point in a pipeline when pigging manually or automated. The group chose to work with a pig signaler, because despite constant evolution, the industry standard design for pig signalers has always seemed to lack consistent reliability and longevity.
WeldFit Energy Group supports the communities where we live and work; internally and externally.
