      Weldfit Corporation manufactures a variety of wrought and forged products for the oil, gas, and petrochemical industry. The wrought steel Strainer Body provides the strainer manufacturer or fabricator with a pre-designed product that can be quickly and easily incorporated into a finished assembly.

      These bodies are designed to comply with the calculated bursting strength of the line pipe to which they are attached regardless of the material selected or the design criteria. They can be used as any standard tee or cross without compromising the requirements of the applicable Code. The designer can determine the grade of material needed and the wall thickness suitable for the design and simply order to the line size, grade, and wall thickness.

Fittings can be produced in compliance with the following fitting Codes:

ASTM A234 in most grades
ASTM A403 in most 300 series materials
ASTM A420 WPL-6
ASTM A860 WPHY-42 thru WPHY-60
MSS SP-75 WPHY-42 thru WPHY-60

      The fittings shown on the preceding pages cover the vast majority of strainer sizes used in the industry. Weldfit can manufacture other sizes and wall thicknesses on request. When ordering large quantities for stocking purposes, strainer manufacturers may wish to have bodies made to special designs in order to reduce costs. Weldfit Corporation can assist in providing special designs that comply with the appropriate Codes.

      Wrought fitting strainer bodies provide a "cleaner" design by eliminating the conventional nozzle weld or o-let weld along with the associated potential for defects in the welds and the stress intensifying mechanical and metallurgical notch effects the accompany those types of attachments. Along with the improved reliability of the body ingerent in its manifacturing process and configuration, the internal contour aids in minimizing flow restriction and edge turbulence, thus improving flow characteristics.
