Certified Design

All Weldfit Corporation clamps are designed in accordance with procedures outlined in "Development of Design Equations for Clamp Type Connectors" produced for the association of wellhead manufactures by Harry J. Sweet & Associates, Inc., dated June 1973. All clamp designs are produced to meet the allowable stress limits specified in API 16A for listed operating and hydrostatic test conditions.

All Weldfit Corporation clamps are suitable for use with BX type seals. No allowance has been made for use with R type oval seal rings that require seating forces to be added to the clamping and end loads resulting from internal pressure. When such seals are anticipated, special hub and clamp designs must be used.
When special conditions exist, Weldfit Corporation will assist the user in designing clamps and/or hubs to meet those conditions. Special materials or sizes can be produced to meet the the needs of the client.
Dimensions are in inches and weights are in pounds. All studs are 8UN thread except for the 7/8" studs which are 9UN. Studs are ASTM A193 B7 and the nuts supplied are ASTM A 194 2H. Bolting can be supplied with Fluropolymer coating upon request.
Weldfit Corporation's 4 Bolt clamps for API style hubs are designed for general use applications coupling API 16A Type 16B and 16BX high pressure hubs. The clamps are manufactured from API 75K material, and are precision machined to assure proper make-up of the hub and seal ring.
Self Aligning spherical hardened steel washers are provided with the hub clamp assembly in order to provide uniform loading of the clamp during installation. A bearing ring and load ring make up a washer set. Clamps should not be installed without the appropriate bearing washer set in place. All un-coated bolts should be lubricated with API 5A2 thread lubricant or equal lubricating material.
Lifting Swivel Eyes are available on many clamp sizes as standard equipment. These eyes are provided to facilitate the handling of the clamps during installation. Lifting swivel eyes on sizes other those shown can be provided upon request.
Special materials can be used when conditions or customer requirements warrant the use of materials other than those listed as standard. When other materials are used for bolting or clamp base material, it is esstential that the strength levels be equal or greater than the materials used in the manufacture of standard clamps.
Example:
If the unit is to be used in environments requiring low temperature properties, ASTM A320 bolting may be a desired option. Weldfit Corporation is able to adjust to the customer's needs when special conditions are a consideration.
Stock is maintained on selected sizes of clamps in standard materials.
